Privacy Policy

Summary

Catchbook is published by Byte Flicker Pty Ltd (ABN 68 625 784 287), an Australian private company registered in New South Wales, Australia. Catchbook does not collect, transmit or sell personal data. The catches, fishing trips, tackle inventory, licence wallet entries and personal-best records you create stay on your device. Catchbook can optionally sync your data to your own private iCloud account using Apple CloudKit. We never have access to that data.

Data We Process

Catchbook processes only data you create within the app — catches, fishing trips, tackle inventory, licence wallet entries and personal-best records. All such data is stored on your device using Apple's SwiftData / SQLite storage and is never transmitted to Byte Flicker Pty Ltd servers.

Device Permissions

Catchbook requests the following permissions only when the corresponding feature is used:

• Location — used to show local tide predictions, weather conditions and the recreational fishing regulations of your current Australian state. Background location is only used while you have a fishing trip actively recording, to log GPS tracks and notify you near saved spots.
• Camera — used to identify fish species on-device using Core ML and Vision, measure their length using ARKit, and record short videos of your catches. Photos and frames never leave your iPhone unless you explicitly share them.
• Photo Library — used to attach photos to your catch records, and to save share-cards back to your photo library.
• Microphone — used to record audio with your fishing videos so the moment is captured intact. The microphone is only active while you are recording.
• Notifications — used for tide-window alerts, bite-window predictions and trip-end reminders. All scheduling happens on-device.

iCloud Sync

Catchbook can sync your data across your devices using Apple iCloud (CloudKit). When iCloud sync is enabled, your data is stored in your private iCloud database, encrypted by Apple. Byte Flicker Pty Ltd has no access to that data and cannot read it. Disable sync at any time in Settings → your Apple ID → iCloud → Catchbook.

Analytics, Advertising & Third-Party SDKs

• Third-party analytics: None. We do not embed analytics SDKs in the app.
• Third-party advertising / tracking: None. We do not show ads, embed ad SDKs or use the App Tracking Transparency framework.

In-App Purchases

Catchbook offers in-app subscriptions and / or one-time purchases through Apple's StoreKit. Payment, billing, refund and renewal are all handled by Apple. Byte Flicker Pty Ltd receives an anonymous transaction receipt to validate your entitlement on-device. We never see your payment method or Apple ID.

Children's Privacy

Catchbook is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Your Rights

Under the Australian Privacy Act 1988, you have the right to access, correct or request deletion of any personal information we hold about you. Because Catchbook stores data on your own device, you can already see and delete everything from within the app at any time.
